A podcast: A personal on demand broadcast that is either in audio or visual form or both…

The Radio 254 International Podcast Day held on 30th September 2022 at Unseen Nairobi Wood Avenue, was nothing short of spectacular.

Podcasts still being new to the industry, radio 254 was quick to jump on the bandwagon with the first ever edition of International Podcast Day; an event that brought different podcasters together to network and to listen and learn from visionaries in the industry.

The Theatre was packed to the brim with an enthralled audience waiting to listen to various amazing podcasts from Nairobi and experience the first ever live performance of Ethan Muziki’s new album; Ethanal Fire.

Some of the podcasts in attendance included, The Joyride Podcast, Mics are Open, Banter Over Brunch, Iko Nini Podcast, AdoVeli Podcast,  Kijana Chronicles and many more.

The Evening began with an introductory session by Kijana Chronicles who engaged the audience in an interesting debate around podcasts in Kenya and Africa at large and how they fit in the entertainment space.

Some thought provoking questions were raised such as what role podcasts had in the creative space, what constituted a podcast, what was the future of podcasting and was it just for an elite audience.

Then followed other notable podcasters in attendance who graced the stage in turn, to hold conversations and do a live Q and A session.

Laughter filled the room as the different podcasters like Iko Nini Podcast exchanged banter while dispensing knowledge.

Notably, Justine Wanda, an iconic stand-up comedian in Kenya, took to the stage and engaged the crowd in a comic bit that left them chuckling in their seats.

As the event neared an end, Ethan Muziki serenaded the room with a few songs from his just release album, Ethanal Fire as the audience sang along. After which there was a brief photo session with the stars of the night as people interacted and networked.

The event was nothing short of a success and a first of many.
