It’s Our Turn to Eat

I come from a country that believes not in the rule of law but an understood construct of, it’s our turn to eat. Everybody knows it and those that are lucky do it. It’s our turn simply means that depending on the government in power, there is going to be a lot of money and opportunities available to those allied to the government in power. So for those that happen to be lucky enough to be close to the government of the day then they are who we call the eaters. With any feast, there is a end date to when the eating happens. With this type of eating, which requires the ability to creatively clean large amounts of money and create multiple fictious projects those that are eating only have one problem which is lots of money coming in but the thought in the back of their mind is that once those in power lose power then they will no longer be eating. Business will no longer be business as usual. So right now, the streets are saying that, ey akina Wallace wanakula sana hoping that one day they will maybe get the chance to eat or maybe one of your own. What its our turn to eat means is power. Its what all these politicians are fighting for. They are fighting for power. Nobody cares about the thinning pay slip, poor state of the creative industry, over taxation, femicide, bad economy or corruption. What people are distracted with is Riggy G, TikTok, Podcast and X. All the while, many youths despite being told over and over again have yet to register as voters. Do you not realize that what happened in Kenya several decades ago and has worked like magic ever since. Someone convinced Kenyan voters that even if you vote they will steal so there is no need to vote. That is a lie. Please do not wait for IEBC to open up mass voting registration drives to register to vote. Go and register now at a Huduma center. Being registered to vote is as important as knowing your status which is something many of you need to do more often and normalize. Get tested folks but equally important is registering to vote and stopping femicide in Kenya. But to power and it’s our turn to eat, I personally would like to live in a Kenya where there are opportunities for everyone not just those in power. It our time to eat fix.
