After Tuko Kadi What Next?

Just the other day, I was asking, what happened to the Gen Z’s who were at Maandamano? No sooner than I had begun to wonder did the generation that is going to save Kenya came out again, not to protest this time but to make it clear that during the next election they will be counted. And Tuko Kadi was born.

The Gen Z are different, and we love it! I honestly think that it is the spirit and wisdom of Gen Z that will change Kenya and its culture. The reason I wondered where Gen Z had gone after Maaandamano was due to the lack of momentum after the success of challenging the finance bill.

But it appears that Gen Z has gone back to the drawing board before returning with the Tuko Kadi strategy. I would now like to offer a what’s next strategy for Gen Z.  After Tuko Kadi, which is very important in the quest for Wantam. The next important thing is ensuring a free and fair election in 2027.

One way in which Gen Z can secure the vote is by applying and volunteering with the IEBC to work at polling stations. Votes are stolen at polling stations but if the people at the polling stations cannot be bought then we have a greater chance of a free and fair election. The beauty of technology is that everyone has phones which they can record what is going on so even if not all Gen Z are employed by IEBC, a few Gen Z working at polling stations can make sure to record if any rigging happens.

The last and final thought is, how do we protect the vote? What if we have vote-counting parties at polling stations where you people come together, celebrate, and make a one-term president.
